Maria's Story from Specs4Us.com

"Maria's youngest daughter Erin was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. Knowing that nearly 87% of children with Down syndrome will need glasses by the time they enter preschool, Maria was shocked she couldn't find a frame designed to fit individuals with unique facial features. After several frustrating years of searching for an eyeglass frame that would fit Erin properly and that resulted in nothing, Maria took matters into her own hands. Combining her passion as a mother with her 30 years' experience in the optical field and Erin's World by Specs4us was created."

Specs4us, or Superior Precision Eyewear for Children who are Special, was founded in 2004, although it wouldn't be until 2008 that Maria received her first physical eyeglass sample. Trying to find a manufacturer to make the proper adjustments needed to fit Erin, and other individuals with Down syndrome, without pushback or other suggestions was nearly impossible. Maria was not willing to give up and she was finally able to find a manufacturer to patent her design. Four years later, on Erin's ninth birthday, Maria received her first eyeglass samples, giving Erin the best gift, a chance to #SeeSomethingNew.

We want to make sure you are completely happy with your purchase. We are offering free in-home try on's for all Erin's World Down Syndrome glasses for Northeast Ohio customers, please contact us with the frame model, size, and color to schedule.

For customers outside of our service area, we have nationwide frame try-on's for a small deposit that will go toward the purchase of your glasses from us, contact us for details.

In addition to in home try-on's for our serviced area in Northeast Ohio we at The Optical Guru also offer measurements, custom fittings, repairs, and warranty support for all Erin's World Down Syndrome glasses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these glasses fit for a baby or infant size?

Yes, we have as small as a 33 mm eye size to fit even the smallest of faces.

Are there adult sizes available?

Yes, there are adult sizes that can be sorted in our store

What if I order them and they don't fit?

We offer an in home try on before you buy whether you are in the area or elsewhere in the country but if you are unhappy with your purchase we do allow one exchange in the first 30 days to remake your glasses

Do they have a warranty?

Yes, all frames and lens have a 1 year warranty to be free from defects, normal wear and tear not included. If you scratch your lens due to accidental damage, please contact us as we can work with you on replacement cost.
